How To Play TEQ3 — Beginner’s Guide
Welcome to TEQ3. This guide walks new players through their first few hours in the game.
By the end you’ll have a country, an income, an army, and a basic plan for the rest of the
round.
Step 1 — Create your country
After signing up, choose a server. New players are usually pointed to the Group Server or
Express Server, since the Team Server requires coordination with a team and the Tournament
Server has stricter rules. Pick a country name, a flag, and a brief description. These are
visible to other players. You’ll start with a small population, a small treasury, and
150 neutral turns of protection from attack.
Step 2 — Build your economy
Land is the foundation of everything. Use your first turns to explore (gain free land),
then build a balanced mix of homes (population growth), industrial centers (cash income),
and agricultural acres (food). Don’t overbuild any single type early — population
without food starves, and cash without population is useless. Aim for a stable equilibrium
before you specialize.
Step 3 — Learn the market
The global market lets countries trade goods such as food, building materials, weapons, and
military units. The market is one of the most strategically important features in TEQ3.
Watch prices, sell surplus, and buy what you need. Don’t lock yourself into a single
resource — flexibility is more valuable than depth in the first week of a round.
Step 4 — Build your military
Once your economy is stable, train soldiers, recruit specialized units, and research
military technologies. A balanced army can attack to gain land and resources, defend
against incoming attacks, and project force in support of allies. Networth — your
country’s total wealth — is heavily influenced by your military, so it pays to invest
deliberately.
Step 5 — Find allies
Politics matters at least as much as economy or military. Use the forums and in-game
messaging to introduce yourself, identify nearby players, and look for an alliance or team
that matches your activity level and ambition. Solo play is viable but harder. Most top
finishers are part of a coordinated group.
Step 6 — Watch your neighbors
Your country exists in a server with hundreds or thousands of others. Use the rankings,
the scores list, and the country search to identify rising players, weakening targets, and
potential threats. The intelligence you gather in the first half of a round determines what
you can do in the second half.
Step 7 — Plan for the end
Winning a round is about peaking at the right time, not building forever. The last week is
when alliances fracture, prices spike, and aggressive plays pay off. Save resources, keep
options open, and be ready to spend everything in the final days. Read the
Game Rules for full server-specific winning
criteria.
Beyond the basics
After your first round you’ll start to understand the deeper systems — research trees,
espionage, advanced military doctrines, market manipulation, multi-server politics. The
community forums and chat are the best places to learn. Welcome to TEQ3 — see you on
the rankings.
